The Golden Nonprofit Leadership Roundtable (GNLR)

History of GNLR

The Golden Nonprofit Leadership Roundtable (GNLR) was founded in February 2018 by Kim Mangle, then a local resident, nonprofit consultant, and current Executive Director of the Golden Civic Foundation.

In late 2017, Kim collaborated with Connects Workspace and the Golden Civic Foundation to conduct a needs assessment of Golden-area nonprofits. The results highlighted a desire for stronger connections between nonprofits and the wider community. In response, GNLR was established to fill this gap and has since grown into a vital resource for local nonprofit leaders and organizations.

Over the years, GNLR’s focus has expanded to include a variety of essential topics, such as:

  • Program evaluation

  • Financial management

  • Advocacy

  • Meeting facilitation

  • Board governance

  • Succession planning

  • Engaging the next generation of leaders

Today, GNLR includes numerous nonprofit organizations and community partners working together to strengthen Golden’s nonprofit sector.

What We Do

The GNLR hosts bi-monthly meetings to provide:

  • Networking opportunities: Build relationships with other nonprofit leaders.

  • Collaboration spaces: Share ideas and work together on common goals.

  • Professional development: Enhance skills through workshops and discussions on topics that matter most to nonprofit organizations.

Leadership

The GNLR is led by a volunteer Steering Committee composed of local nonprofit leaders who are passionate about fostering collaboration and empowering the nonprofit community. With support from the Golden Civic Foundation and the City of Golden, the Steering Committee works to connect nonprofits with the resources and relationships they need to thrive.

I’ve been attending Golden Nonprofit Leadership Roundtable meetings for 5 years now, and when I can’t go, I almost always send staff. Nonprofit leadership is incredibly complex and one of the greatest sources of support is sharing with, and learning from, other nonprofit leaders about their challenges as well. The Golden Nonprofit Leadership Roundtable always delivers: every session, practical advice emerges that we can all take back to our organizations and communities so that we can apply something we’ve learned. I’m proud to keep this group going, which has given my organization, and so many others in the Golden area, valuable nuggets of information and insight that just isn’t shared in the same format anywhere else.”
