Our History
The Golden Civic Foundation was incorporated on April 14, 1970, under the Colorado Nonprofit Act, and its first organizational meeting was held on May 19, 1970. The founding Board of Directors included F.A. Foss, F.J. Pattridge, W.G. Brown, C. Goudge, and R.W. Todd. Their vision was simple yet profound: to stimulate Golden’s economy by providing resources for revitalization and growth.
In its early years, the Foundation focused on providing small business loans to local entrepreneurs, helping them purchase buildings, clean up vacant parking lots, and keep their businesses afloat. Over time, GCF expanded its mission to include grants for nonprofits and schools, public art investments, and community-building initiatives.
Today, GCF’s impact can be seen throughout Golden—whether it’s thriving businesses, restored historic landmarks, or public art installations that enrich the town’s unique character. From one-time capital investments to emergency loans during the COVID-19 pandemic, our efforts have consistently adapted to meet the needs of our community.
Thanks to the generosity of Golden residents, GCF continues to invest in projects that shape our town’s future while honoring its past. We are proud to serve as stewards of Golden’s legacy, helping this remarkable community flourish for generations.
