Golden Schools: Since 1987, the Foundation
has provided funds for the After Prom Party. It has also contributed to
the emergency fund and the student awards program. In 1997 and 1998, the
Foundation has helped defray the cost of computers at Mitchell School
and computer software at Golden
High School.
Jefferson Symphony
Orchestra: Beginning in 1987, the Foundation has provided funds for
the Young Artist Contest. In 1997, the Foundation requested that their
donation be used as prize money for the two first place awards at the
contest.
Tying Neighborhoods Together: In 1993,
the Foundation has provided the seed money to begin this community organization
that has grown into a vary valuable asset for Golden. Since 1993, the
Foundation has provided funds for office equipment, development of a business
plan, and a subscription to a job market publication.
Christian Action Guild: The Guild has been
recipient of funds for the food bank, to purchase shoes for the needy
and replace items destroyed in a fire. In 1997, the Foundation agreed
to conduct a fund raising campaign for the construction of a new and permanent
thrift shop and food bank. The fund raiding effort was successful and
the building has been paid for.
Foothills Art Center:
This is the largest single recipient of funds from the foundation. Most
of the funds from the funds were used for expansion of the center, to
assist in the purchase of a second building and for debt reduction.
Museums: The Civic Foundation has assisted
the Astor House, Golden
Pioneer Museum and Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum in a variety of
ways. This includes the purchase of office equipment and furniture, helping
defray the cost of publishing brochures, supporting historic events and
art festivals, and for repair and maintenance costs.
City
of Golden: The Civic Foundation has made major contributions to the
expansion and beautification of many of the city parks and downtown district.
Typical items include expansion of Ulysses Park, repainting the Golden
Arch, upgrading signage, and numerous other small projects.
Golden Cemetery: Through a directed donation
from a memorial fund, the Civic Foundation has provided considerable assistance
in the installation of an automatic sprinkler system for the Golden Cemetery.
The funds from the Foundation are combined with funds from the city for
this project that is expected to be completed in the next few years.
Other: Many other charitable organizations
in Golden have received grants or donations from the Civic Foundation.
These include the Lions Club, Optimist Club, Golden Urban Renewal Authority, Public Library, Golden Trolley Authority,
and the Golden Volunteer Fire Department.
